Case Study Bristol Managed Travel Inn
The Bristol MTI was converted from a 17 storeyoffice block. The final hotel comprised 224 bedrooms with adjacent restaurant facilities being provided in a refurbished existing Beefeater on site.
The site is in central Bristol, accessed from the Bus Station slip road. The logistics of site deliveries were critical to the successful completion of the project. In addition to the access problems, the movement of materials vertically through the site was also influential in the rapid completion programme.
The project was completed a week ahead of programme and was contractor free at handover {Whitbread’s definition of defect free}. The early involvement of the entire construction team, including key suppliers, highlighted issues that enabled Whitbread to negotiate a better purchase price for the site.
