Case Study Clark’s Project Westway, Street, Somerset
The works comprised the construction of a new national distribution facility with associated office accommodation for Clarks shoes.
The steel framed structure is on mass concrete foundations with dock leveller pits of precast concrete.
In order to achieve early enclosure of the building facing brickwork to ‘Quick Wall’ precast concrete units was introduced at low level. Elsewhere the envelope is of flat composite panels and curtain walling.
The aluminium roof sheets were rolled on site and at 150 metres were, at the time, the longest installed in Europe.
